Gearing Up for Passover!

Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 4
Bake Sale
The Hey class will sponsor a Bake Sale to raise money for their grade level tzedakah project. The Hey class students are sponsoring four underprivileged children in Jaffa, Israel. They will sell water and baked items for $.75 cents.
 
Wednesday, March 3,and Thursday, March 4
Gemilut Hassidim Day
The children will perform the mitzvah of gemilut hassidim, giving of one’s time and energy by participating in activities that will benefit organizations in need.
 
Wednesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 11
Mezuzzah Day
All the children will learn all about the mezuzzah and then create a unique and special mezuzzah for their home.
 
Wednesday, March 17 (Thursday Primary School children are invited) Please RSVP to Barrie at bhalpern@tbanj.org by March 13.
Matzah Making Factory
The children will participate in the annual Matzah Making Factory and make authentic matzah to bring home for their Seder. Thursday Primary class is invited to come on Wednesday to attend the Matzah Making Factory.

Passover Seder
There will be a wonderful Passover Seder for all the Primary school students to practice their Passover prayers and songs they can sing at home.
 
HEBREW SCHOOL
Tuesday, March 2
Yotam Zach, a post-army Israeli emissary from Israel will visit Aleph through Hey classes to exhibit extraordinary blown-up photographs depicting Israel today that an Israeli soldier took before he was killed in the line of duty.
 
Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 4

Junior Congregation Service
It is recommended that all children should have attended at least six services by the end of this month.
Please sign in for Junior Congregation at the service itself, not upstairs. Please remember that you must arrive on time and stay until 11:00 AM to receive credit for attending Junior Congregation.
 
Friday, March 12, 7:30 PM.
Gimel Class Service
The Gimel class will lead the service, as well as share a thought-provoking presentation on Jewish Values.
Students should arrive at the Synagogue by 7:00 PM.
 
Saturday, March 13, 10:00 AM
Dalet Class Service
The students in grade six will lead the Saturday morning service, chanting the Haftarah and giving a D’rash on the weekly Torah portion Vayakhel/Pekude. A light Kiddish will follow the service. This service will be a teaching service conducted by Rabbi Kulwin, who will explain the prayers and parts of the service, which will educate the parents and add a feeling of comfort when their child becomes a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. The students should arrive at the Synagogue by 9:30 A.M.

Dalet Class Introduction to Temple B’nai Abraham’s High School Program
Temple B’nai Abraham’s High School Director Claudia Minde will teach the Dalet class to help the students become familiar with the High School Program and the interesting and current topics they cover.
 
Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25
Passover Sederim
The Aleph, Bet and Gimel students will participate in an age-appropriate Passover Seder at the Synagogue.
 
Tuesday, March 9
Hey Class
High School Director Claudia Minde will lead a separate Boys and Girls Program that will engage the students and familiarize them with the High School program that starts in eighth grade.
 
Tuesday, March 16
Interfaith Seder
The Hey class will participate in an Interfaith Seder, which will include a light dinner. Please check your e-mail because we are asking the students to arrive at an earlier time.
 
Tuesday, March 23 
Yom Hashoah Candle Packing
Hey class will work in conjunction with the Men’s Club packing the Yom Hashoah candles sent out to the entire congregation in commemoration of the Holocaust. In addition, the students will work on graduation preparation.
 
March 29–April 6
No School Spring Recess
 
Aleph Class
The Aleph students are progressing nicely in their reading and learning of prayers. Each student should continue to practice their Hebrew using the interactive CD and other learning materials. Please mark your calendar for the Aleph Class Presentation Wednesday, May 5,and Thursday, May 6,at 5:30 PM when your children will read and chant the prayers they have learned throughout the year. 
 
Bet Class
The Bet class children continue to learn their prayers while they prepare for their Bet Class Naming Service on Friday, April 30, at 7:30 PM. The students should continue to practice their prayers at home whenever they can by working with the CD and prayer notebook
 
The Gimel and Dalet students continue to learn their prayers while reviewing ones they have learned in previous years, reinforcing what they need to know to be an active participant in a worship service.
 
RELIGIOUS SCHOOL REGISTRATION (2010–2011)
Registration information will be mailed to you in late March for the 20010–2011 school year. Please send in the registration information as soon as you receive it. Classes will be closed at the maximum capacity; therefore, registration for a particular day of the week will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If you know of any new families who are interested in receiving information about our school, please call the school office and give us their names, addresses and phone numbers.

KIDZ CONNECT PLANS SPECTACULAR SPRING
 
Kidz Connect continues to have fun with all of their activities. New members continue to join our popular group and get ready to for our spectacular spring activities.
 
Thursday, March 4
IDF (Israeli Defense Force) Night              6:00-7:00 PM
Pretend you are in the Israeli army for the night. Israeli soldiers (emissaries to the Metrowest area) who have served in the army are coming to Temple B’nai Abraham to run a fun interactive army-like program for Kidz Connect. Please RSVP to Barrie by March 1.
 
Wednesday, March 17 
Raring to Rock Climb (Rescheduled from February)
Diamond Gymnastics, East Hanover 6:00-7:30 PM   
 
Pretend you are climbing Masada in Israel on the rock wall at Diamond Gymnastics in East Hanover. The cost is $25.00 for Kidz Connect members or $35.00 for non-members. Cash is preferred for easier payment to the venue that night. Pizza will be served from 6:00-6:30 PM, and then we will climb from 6:30-7:30 PM. You need to arrange your own transportation there. You may leave Hebrew School 15 minutes early to attend the event on time. Please park in the third tier and sign your children out. Please RSVP to Barrie by March 10.
 
Thursday, March 25
Annual Chocolate Seder                          6:00-7:00 PM
Join us for the Junior Youth Group’s most popular annual event, the Chocolate Seder. Celebrate Passover using the special Haggadah that transforms all of the traditional ritual objects into chocolate delights. This is a members’ only event. Please RSVP by March 20.
