Youth
Our young adults may be far from home studying at universities and colleges, but not far from our hearts and thoughts. Keeping college students connected to their Temple family, we reach out to them through special packages sent in celebration of various holidays and important moments. Rabbi Kulwin welcomes the opportunity to meet with students to discuss courses in Jewish studies, Jewish life on campus and study abroad opportunities in Israel, as well as Temple scholarships for travel and/or study in Israel. All students must renew their registration information with the Temple Office each school year to assure the accuracy of the mailing list. Register online. ERIC F. & LORE ROSS SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDY IN ISRAEL
For TBA Members only
We are pleased share with you further news about the Eric F. and Lore Ross Scholarship for study in Israel, which was announced on Yom Kippur. The Rosses, who were legendary philanthropists, were long-time members and supporters of Temple B'nai Abraham. In addition, Israel in general and Israeli higher education in particular figured heavily in their giving. The Temple B'nai Abraham leadership established the Ross Scholarship both to honor Eric and Lore Ross’ memory and to promote a cause they were passionate about, that American Jewish college students spend time in Israel.
The terms are simple. To be eligible:
- Students must be full time undergraduates whose families have been members of Temple B'nai Abraham for at least three years.
- Upon verification that the student will spend a minimum of one semester as a full time student at an Israeli university, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded.
- Financial need does not play a role in this award.
A semester in Israel has tremendous educational benefits for a student in virtually any field…and its impact on one’s Jewish identity it incalculable. It is the Temple’s hope – and one that would have surely pleased the Rosses – that this opportunity will inspire more students to spend a semester in the land of our ancestors, and immerse themselves in the Jewish past, present and future.
For further information, please be in direct contact with Rabbi Kulwin . We hope that many of our young people will take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.

11th & 12th Grade Students & Parents...Looking for a College?
Check out the list below. These 59 schools are the colleges and universities “our” kids attend. If you (the high school junior or senior) would like to be in touch with someone who attends one or more schools you’re interested in, or maybe speak to them during a campus visit, or if you (the parent) would like to talk to the parent of a current student at one of these schools to get the parental perspective, just be in touch with Rabbi Kulwin (ckulwin@tbanj.org) or Claudia Minde (cminde@tbanj.org). They will be glad to make the connection, and delighted we can take advantage of this wonderful “in house” resource. This list will be periodically updated.
